Description

The Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) at the University of Houston invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, specializing in Human Factors, beginning in Fall 2027. Successful candidates will be expected to establish or sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; mentor students; and contribute to professional, departmental, college, and university service. Candidates should have a strong methodological foundation and research expertise in at least one of the three areas: research, teaching and service.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering or a closely related field by the appointment date. Successful candidates are expected to establish a nationally recognized, externally funded research program and contribute to the department’s teaching mission. Candidates must demonstrate strong potential for excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service and for securing competitive research funding.

Salary and rank commensurate with experience.

The Department

The ISE Department has 24 full-time faculty members and approximately 900 students enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs. The department is experiencing rapid growth in both research activity and student enrollment. Faculty members have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the university and in the Houston community in areas including supply chain, logistics, transportation, energy, power systems, resilience, smart cities, sustainability, and manufacturing.
