Job summary

Hood College in Frederick, MD seeks a faculty member to teach undergraduate and graduate courses with a primary focus on PreK–grade 6 literacy education. Undergraduate courses are day, on-campus; graduate courses are online year-round, in the evening, synchronously or asynchronously.

Responsibilities include developing syllabi, assessing student work, maintaining office hours, advising, and serving as Director of the Reading Specialization graduate program, including coordinating the Summer

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent focused on literacy or reading education.
• Knowledge of current research in literacy education.
• Experience teaching PreK–grade 8 in U.S. schools preferred.
• Previous college teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses with focus on literacy education.
• Develop syllabi and assess student performance with formal grades.
• Advise students and coordinate the Reading Specialization program.
• Use Blackboard/Anthology Portfolio for instruction and recordkeeping.
