Job summary

Towson University invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Elementary Education with three years PreK-12 teaching experience in public schools.

The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, expertise in reading instruction and assessment, writing instruction, and a commitment to teaching teacher candidates and multilingual learners. Preferred begin date is August 2027.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction or education-related field, to be completed by Aug 1, 2027.
• ABD applications considered; appointment at instructor rank.
• Evidence of commitment to teaching and working with teacher candidates and novice teachers.
• Expertise in elementary education literacy curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
• Experience supporting multilingual learners and/or urban schools; collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Teaching and supervising 6 course units (18 credits) over a 9‑month year in literacy courses.
• Developing and continuing a focused area of research with publications and presentations.
• Active service at department, college, university, community and professional levels.
