Assistant Professor, MSW Program

The College of Health and Human Services at Xavier Universityinvites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position in theDepartment of Social Work beginning Fall 2027. This tenure-trackteaching position will be primarily assigned to the MSW Programcurrently in pre-candidacy. Xavier University seeks experienced,innovative, and highly motivated candidates for a full-time,open-rank, tenure track faculty.

Responsibilities include teaching at the BSW and MSW levels,curriculum and program development, pursuing grant opportunities,academic student advising, participating indepartment/college/university/community service, and developing ascholarly agenda. The successful candidate should demonstrate astrong commitment to student-centered pedagogy, social justice, andengaged learning and have distance teaching and course developmentexperience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree. While a doctoral degree in social work ispreferred, related doctoral degrees will also be considered;
• A master’s social work degree from a CSWE-accredited program(or a CASWE-accredited degree recognized through an MOU with CSWE,or an ISWDRES-evaluated degree);
• Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment toworking as part of a collaborative team;
• Passion for exciting and motivating students from diversebackgrounds;
• Contribution to a campus climate that supports equity,diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable Qualifications:

• At least two (2) years of post-master’s social work degreepractice experience in social work;
• Previous full-time experience with instruction in social workeducation;
• Ability to teach across the curriculum, particularly policyandresearch courses;
• Experience with CSWE accreditation standards andprocesses.

• Demonstrated experience with program and curriculum developmentand management.

• Experience with online teaching and/or distance educationprogram.
• Record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, andservice.

Position:

Nine-month faculty contract with summer teachingopportunities.

Salary/Rank:

Assistant/Associate professor with salary commensurate toqualifications and experience.

Teaching Load:

The teaching expectation is 18 credit hours annually for thistenure-track faculty position when a faculty member meets theCollege's active scholarship standards
