William & Mary in Virginia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Microbiology, beginning August 10, 2027. We seek individuals with research and teaching expertise in microbiology with emphasis in microbial applications to biotechnology and/or biomedical sciences.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in microbiology or related field by Aug 10, 2027.
• 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline in which they will teach.
• Postdoctoral experience.
• Ability to teach microbiology and other lecture/seminar-style courses.
• Ability to develop an externally funded research program involving undergraduates/graduate students.
• Ability to conduct research within BSL-2 laboratory environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and secure external funding.
• Teach microbiology courses including sophomore-level microbiology with labs.
• Provide service to the university and department.
