TheMcGovern Institute seeks someone with a background in basic science, including but notlimited to cell/molecular and/or systems neuroscience, with a strong focus ontranslational neuroscience in nonhuman animals. We have unique resources for creatingand testing genetic models for brain disorders. A PhD degree in neuroscience, biology,physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or other relevant field is required by thestart of employment. Laboratory space will be within the McGovern Institute.
The Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences offers supportive mentorship to newfaculty, an exceptional environment for scientific inquiry, and a strong commitment to aninclusive, welcoming culture. Faculty duties include conducting original scholarlyresearch, teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate level in brain and cognitivesciences, and mentoring students. The normal teaching load is 1.5 subjects per year.

The pay range for a 9-month academic appointment are $143,200 – $177,000 for a pretenure position and $185,000 – $293,000 for a tenured position. MIT provides pay rangesrepresenting its good faith estimate of what the Institute reasonably expects to pay for aposition at the time of posting. The pay offered to a selected candidate during hiring will bebased on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position,the candidate’s work experience and education/training, internal peer equity, andapplicable legal requirements. This pay range represents base pay only and does notinclude any other benefits or compensation.
