Position Summary

The Kinesiology Department at the State University of New York at Cortland invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor with a specialization in motor behavior (motor learning/control). Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, research, academic advisement, and service.

Major Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Provide instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in motor behavior (motor learning/control).
  • Provide instruction in other areas dependent on expertise.
  • Advise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Implement an active research agenda that leads to nationally/internationally refereed publications and presentations.
  • Pursue external funding for research.

Service

  • Provide service to the department, university, and professional organizations.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
  • Reports to the academic department chair.
  • Works closely with department faculty.
Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in Kinesiology or closely related discipline. Candidates who are ABD may be considered with expected completion of doctorate within one year from appointment date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialization in motor behavior (motor learning/control).
  • Demonstrated experience and evidence of university-level teaching.
  • Experience in delivering undergraduate and/or graduate coursework in motor behavior (motor learning/motor control).
