The Department of Psychology at Seton Hall University (https://www.shu.edu/academics/artsci/psychology/) invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2025. The area of specialization is open, but applicants should be able to teach core classes in psychology such as Introduction to Psychology and Research Methods.

Seton Hall University is located in South Orange, New Jersey, 14 miles from New York City. It is the oldest Catholic diocesan institution of higher education in the United States, with approximately 6,300 undergraduate and 4,700 graduate students from all 50 states and alumni from over 60 countries. The Psychology Department values high-quality teaching, diverse research interests, and substantive service. The curriculum emphasizes scientific thinking and experiential learning across basic, applied, and laboratory classes. The initial contract will cover the 2025-2026 academic year but may be renewed based on performance and departmental needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teaching four undergraduate courses per semester, including Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, or Research Methods, based on departmental needs and expertise.
  • Holding at least four office hours per week.
  • Teaching large sections of Introduction to Psychology (90-110 students) and smaller sections (~25 students).
Required Qualifications:
  • PhD, PsyD, or a doctorate in a related field; candidates in the process of completing their doctorate will be considered if completed by the appointment date.
Desired Qualifications:
  • College-level teaching experience preferred.

None beyond the required graduate degree.
