Job description

The University of South Florida (USF), an AAU member institution, invites applications for a nine-month Assistant Professor position in Speech-Language Pathology within the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders. We especially encourage applications from advanced Assistant Professors and candidates who demonstrate strong potential for externally funded research. Responsibilities include scholarship; teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels; student mentoring; and service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to the research mission of an AAU institution through high-quality scholarship, pursuit of external funding, and interdisciplinary collaboration. We are especially interested in the following areas of speech-language pathology research: early intervention; speech development and disorders in children (e.g., childhood apraxia of speech and articulation or phonological disorders); language development and disorders (e.g., multilingualism and disparities in child language and literacy, children with hearing loss and/or cochlear implants, and school-age language and literacy); developmental differences (e.g., autism and other disorders, and educational support for children with speech, language, or hearing differences); specialized interventions for children (e.g., AAC and MMST); and child feeding and swallowing. However, all areas of research related to childhood will be considered.

• A strong potential to develop an externally funded, sustainable research program appropriate for an Assistant Professor at an AAU institution.
• Evidence of emerging research productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or other scholarly dissemination commensurate with career stage
• Compelling, feasible, and impactful research agenda with potential for interdisciplinary collaboration
• Evidence of effective teaching experience or strong potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
• Effective communication skills and evidence of leadership potential in research, teaching, service, or professional engagement
• Evidence of mentoring potential with students, trainees, or early-stage scholars
• Clinical expertise, professional certification, or applied experience that complement the candidate’s research and teaching areas

Minimum Qualifications:
