The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science (MEMS) at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time, appointment-stream faculty position at the assistant professor level, primarily focused on teaching Mechanical Engineering.
The MEMS department offers an exceptional curriculum emphasizing active learning, project-based learning, and research-backed education practices. The broader School of Engineering provides multidisciplinary certificate programs in Sustainability, Data Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Simulation in Design, and Nuclear Engineering.
The position is for the academic year with an initial two-year appointment, renewable. Opportunities for advancement and professional development are available within the appointment-stream track.
The MEMS department includes four appointment-stream faculty focused on teaching and education research, and 33 tenured or tenure-track faculty with $16 million in annual research expenditures. The School offers advanced lecture rooms and a Makerspace for courses and projects.
