Job Description

The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical/dental/vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, a state-matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more.

This classification level is responsible for assisting in performing supervision, case planning, and/or monitoring of offenders at high risk to reoffend, including recreational, home, educational, treatment, and community activities. Responsibilities may include assisting in performing interviews for investigative reports; performing curfew checks, drug testing, assessments, and assisting offenders in retaining employment under the supervision of the Chief Probation Officer or designee.

Job Duties
  • Meet, interview, and confer with probationers through home visits and office meetings; monitor and document progress.
  • Assist in monitoring offenders through electronic/GPS monitoring under the direction of a Probation Officer to ensure compliance with court regulations.
  • Assist with pre-sentence investigations and evaluations of candidates being considered for probation.
  • Prepare, update, and submit various reports and databases, including progress updates, court appearance paperwork, home-visit logs, and location reports.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level. Specific position assignments will vary based on department needs.
Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree or 63 hours of coursework from a four-year college; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties listed above.

All educational credits must be from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

  • Utilizing probation and protective techniques;
  • Applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Preparing activity reports and updating databases;

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the public, and others.
Physical Requirements

Incumbents may be required to travel.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. If arm and/or leg controls require exertion greater than Sedentary Work, the job is rated for Light Work.
