Job summary

KIPP Texas Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Principal of Student Support (APSS) to drive academic and cultural outcomes within the multilingual MTSS model. You will coach teachers, oversee TELPAS, and lead language development initiatives across campuses to ensure emergent bilingual students succeed in college, career, and beyond.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required).
• Texas Bilingual Teacher Certification (required for primary).
• Texas ELAR and ESL Teacher Certification (required for secondary).
• 2 years of teaching experience (required).
• 1 year teacher leader experience with a record of results managing and coaching teachers and/or teacher leaders to improved academic and culture outcomes for students (required).
• Experience working in education partnering with historically underserved communities and communities of color (preferred).
• Previous school-level leadership experience (preferred).
• Strong record of ensuring students achieve academic success in program language (required).
• Fluency in both program languages (strongly preferred for this specific role).
• Deep understanding of bilingual education and second language acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Leadership: Model implementation of multilingual program models, ensuring fidelity to program structures and language allocation.
• Strategy Supervision: Coach program teachers on language instructional strategies with real-time feedback and regular coaching cycles.
• Content-Based Language Instruction: Design and deliver professional development on content-based language instruction to support emergent bilingual students.
• Curriculum Internalization: Lead standards-aligned curriculum internalization for diverse learners in both languages.
• MTSS integration: Embed language development within Tier 1 core instruction and MTSS planning.
• Language interventions: Provide small group language interventions for beginner and newcomer students.
• TELPAS Oversight: Serve as campus lead for TELPAS coordination, training, and administration.
• Community engagement: Organize events for families to support emergent bilingual students.
