Job summary

Latham Centers, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Principal to support daily operations at a special education school serving students with complex needs, including Prader-Willi syndrome.

You will partner with the Senior Director of Children's Services to oversee educational programming and mentor teachers. Requirements include MA Special Education Certification, CPI and CPR/First Aid certifications, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or related field.
  • Massachusetts Special Education Certification required.
  • CPI certification required; CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to intervene physically when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Director of Children's Services in overseeing daily educational operations.
  • Coach, mentor, and supervise teachers with regular evaluations and ongoing support.
  • Monitor IEP goals, academic instruction, behavioral supports, and vocational programming.
  • Ensure IEP compliance, accuracy, and timely completion; co-facilitate IEP meetings.

In this role, you'll partner with the Senior Director of Children's Services to oversee educational programming, support and mentor teachers, ensure compliance with special education regulations, and foster an engaging learning environment where students and staff can thrive.

Compensation

$75,000-$94,000 annually (based on experience)

Schedule

7:30am-3:30pm

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field
  • Massachusetts Special Education Certification
  • Strong knowledge of Massachusetts special education laws, regulations, and IEP processes
  • Valid driver's license
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to physically intervene when necessary to ensure student and staff safety

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Director of Children's Services in overseeing daily educational operations
  • Coach, mentor, and supervise teachers through regular meetings, evaluations, and ongoing support
  • Monitor implementation of IEP goals, academic instruction, behavioral supports, and vocational programming
  • Ensure IEPs are compliant, accurate, and completed on time while co-facilitating IEP meetings
  • Monitor student academic and vocational progress and support individualized educational planning
  • Coordinate academic and psychological assessments as needed
  • Assist with student admissions, program reviews, and educational evaluations
  • Collaborate with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), school districts, and related service providers to coordinate student services
  • Assist with scheduling related services, including occupational, physical, and speech therapy
  • Review and approve General Event Reports (GERs) and manage daily incident notifications
  • Organize and facilitate professional development opportunities for educational staff
  • Participate in leadership, multidisciplinary, and quarterly meetings
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Senior Director of Children's Services during their absence
  • Provide direct student support as needed
