Job summary

RRD in Durham, NC is seeking an Assistant Press Operator to support press make-ready, operation, and routine maintenance on sheet-fed or web offset presses.

You will follow job specs, assist with color and register corrections, adjust feeders and rollers, and help maintain printing quality while meeting safety standards.

A high school diploma or GED and at least two years of offset press experience are required; benefits include medical, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Read and follow job specifications to determine required press set-up materials.
• Follow safety instructions to operate equipment and produce the desired product.
• Use a micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.
• Make adjustments to feeder and feed board, guides, and timing of head stops.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist Press Operator with press make ready, operation, and maintenance.
• Insert packing sheets, install plates and blankets, and set up for printing height.
• Adjust feeder, delivery, suction grips, guides, and cams as needed.
• Wash blankets and clean ink rollers and fountains as part of setup.
• Assist with color or register corrections before production runs to meet specs.
