St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to support the classroom under the Preschool Teacher. You will help create a welcoming, organized learning space and model Christian values throughout the day.

The role requires interaction with families, observation of child development, and collaboration with church staff. This is a part-time, hourly position with flexible day-to-day duties on weekdays.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 ECE units (enrolled OK).
• At least 1 year preschool experience.
• CPR and First Aid training will be provided.
• Mandated Reporter certification training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist Preschool Teacher to maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment.
• Support daily Bible curriculum and model Christian principles.
• Observe and record children's learning and development.
• Communicate with families about progress at conferences.
• Assist with curriculum development and portfolios.
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor times.
• Prepare environments and use software to share photos/events with families.
• Participate in weekly team and staff meetings.

This person needs to love kids, work well in a preschool environment, and be willing to adapt and be flexible on a day-to-day basis. This person will be a joyful presence on campus, embodying Christ to each family and staff member in our preschool.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESTeam FirstAssist Director of Preschool each week with requested tasks.Be part of a team that supports the “church-wide” gatherings and functions.Attend weekly Preschool team meetings and attend other staff meetings.Essence of ResponsibilitiesAssist teachers by creating and maintaining an inviting, well-organized, developmentally appropriate learning environment that meets the needs of the children in the classroom.Assist with the daily implementation Bible curriculum and model Christian principles throughout the day.Assist teachers with observe and record children’s learning and development.Assist in communication with families and parents about their child’s progress, developments, and accomplishments during the year, and in formal parent/teacher conferences twice a year.Assist in the development and implementation of the preschool curriculum.Assist in the supervision of children during inside and outside time.InviteDaily setup and tear down the environment as needed.Create welcoming environments where children will be inspired to learn and play.Utilize preschool manage software to communicate to parents with postings of photos, events, and stories.NurtureMaintain a professional attitude in communicating with the teachers, parents, children, and all other staff members.Teach children in line with the developmental approach and values of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.EmpowerComplete general housekeeping tasks in order to facilitate a positive classroom environment.Assist in filling out assessment reports for each child for bi-annual parent/teacher conferences.Assist in completion of yearly portfolios for children at the end of the school year.Develop a personal growth strategy to be shared with your supervisor so you are continually empowered to grow strength and minimize weaknesses in your job duties and functions.Complete eight hours of professional development training each school year.OTHER GENERAL RESPONSIBILIITESIn addition to normal responsibilities, is a member of a team dedicated to Christian service and should therefore seek at all times to conduct him/herself in a way that would be pleasing to the Lord.Ability to use a computer with the knowledge of Microsoft Office and Keynote programs.Must be available for occasional weekend or evening events.Perform other duties as requested by the Minister of Family Ministries and/or Director of Preschool.An individual who is an active part of a Christian Church and affirms the mission, values, and mission measures of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEA minimum of 6 Early Childhood Education Units (can be currently enrolled).At least one year of experience working in a preschool.CPR and First Aid (will train).Mandated Reporter certification (will train).
