St. Andrew’s Preschool and Childcare in Middletown, DE, is seeking a Part Time Preschool Teacher to create engaging and educational experiences for campers, develop age-appropriate lesson plans, ensure camper safety, and foster a positive learning environment in indoor and outdoor settings.

You will support lead teachers, observe health and safety rules, communicate with parents, and participate in staff meetings.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age with an Early Childhood Education Certificate as Head or Assistant Teacher.
• Two or more years of experience in a childcare setting or working with young children.
• Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
• Ability to effectively communicate with young children and parents.
• Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to the various needs of children and parents.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Patience and compassion suitable for working with young children.
• Thorough background check, fingerprinting, and compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and caring environment with supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.
• Observe all rules and state regulations pertaining to health, safety, and care of children.
• Support lead teachers by integrating supplementary activities into the daily schedule that are age-appropriate and relevant to children’s learning.
• Lead class in the absence of the lead teacher.
• Maintain daily communication with parents.
• Attend in-service and monthly staff meetings.
• Maintain an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
• Work as a team member coordinating activities and curriculum.
• Implement instructional strategies that integrate play, discovery approach and learning centers.
• Support the implementation of learning experiences as outlined by the lead teacher that advance development.
• Provide clear expectations for behavior and recognize children verbally.

The Part Time Preschool Teacher creates engaging and educational experiences for campers, developing and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, ensuring camper safety, and fostering a positive learning environment, often in both indoor and outdoor settings.St. Andrew’s Preschool and Childcare is located on the campus of St. Andrew’s School which is an Episcopal, co-educational, all-boarding high school situated on 2,200 acres in Middletown, Delaware.
