Job summary

The Growing Years in Burlington, NC is hiring Assistant Teachers to support Preschool classrooms. You will assist the lead teacher, help implement activities that foster emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development, and create a clean, safe learning space while building positive relationships with families.

Qualified applicants have a high school diploma; ECE credentials or six credits are preferred, and the ability to pass background checks is required.

Qualifications

• Background checks required; childcare experience preferred.

Job description

The Growing Years of Burlington is a licensed childcare center seeking Assistant Teachers to support the following age groups:

• Preschool

To be QUALIFIED for this position, we require a high school diploma and prefer the completion of early childhood education credentials or 6 credits worth of early childhood education courses or their equivalent, and the ability to pass all background checks. A plus if you have previous childcare experience!

Required Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm

Compensation: $15-$17/hr, based on education and experience

Our Hiring Process:

1. Resume screen
2. Phone screen with recruiter (30 minutes)
3. On-site interview with Center Director (30-60 minutes)

Main Job Responsibilities:

• Assist the lead teacher with all aspects of the classroom in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center.
• Implement activities that encourage each child’s growth in the areas of emotion, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive criticism, and feedback, and make improvements and changes as necessary for the betterment of the quality of the program.
• Create and maintain an environment that is clean and safe for all children.
• Establishing a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
