Job summary

River Road Early Learning Center in Richmond, VA is seeking an Assistant Pre‑K Teacher to join our caring team. You will support the Lead Teacher in daily activities and build strong relationships with children and families.

The role emphasizes safety, development, and a nurturing learning environment, with opportunities for professional growth and collaboration within a dedicated teaching team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
• CDA, associate's degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
• Support children's cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development.
• Foster a warm, nurturing classroom where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged.
• Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest time.
• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and daily routines.
• Encourage positive behavior through consistent guidance and encouragement.
• Support early literacy, math, science, art, music, and hands-on learning experiences.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
• Observe children and share developmental observations with the Lead Teacher.
• Build positive relationships with families through daily communication.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to support student success.
• Follow all Virginia licensing regulations and River Road Early Learning Center policies.
