Job summary

Encyclis is expanding its Walsall ERF site and seeks an Assistant Plant Operator to join the Operations team. The APO will perform routine plant checks, operate on a rotating 12-hour shift (days and nights), and support safe, efficient energy-from-waste production while coordinating with the Shift Team Leader.

Qualifications

• This role requires a National Vocational Qualification Level 2 or above in a technical or science subject.
• Other energy recovery or large process plant qualifications will be considered.
• This role requires experience in plant operations, process plant or maintenance.
• Preferable practical experience with large boiler and rotating plant.
• Training will be provided according to the facility Training Matrix.

Responsibilities

• Operate the facility in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner on a shift rotation.
• Promote, monitor and improve site H&S performance, attend H&S meetings.
• Develop, implement and maintain operational procedures and risk assessments.
• Report Health, Safety and Environmental unsafe conditions and incidents.
• Coordinate safe working practices of site staff and contractors.
• Undertake training to operate mobile plant and overhead cranes.
• Carry out basic PPMs and assist maintenance with tasks.
• Support day shift operations and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Take deliveries and manage consumable stock levels.
• Follow safe operating procedures and risk assessments.
• Support process improvement actions and defect rectification.
• Coordinate with emergency services and act as Fire Marshall when needed.
