Job summary

Austin Powder seeks an experienced PETN Assistant Plant Manager to oversee manufacturing operations, safety, and continuous improvement at the PETN facility. You will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate across maintenance, engineering, quality, SHES, and supply chain, and drive capital projects and budgets.

In this role you will report to the Plant Manager, develop strategic plans, ensure compliance with process safety standards, and mentor supervisors and technicians to achieve safety,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 10+ years manufacturing experience in a PSM or high-hazard environment.
• 5+ years of progressive leadership with production and personnel management.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams including Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and support functions.
• Demonstrated success leading manufacturing teams with improvements in safety, quality, reliability, and cost.

Responsibilities

• Serve as second-in-command for the PETN facility and act on behalf of the Plant Manager during absences.
• Develop and execute strategic, operational, and capital improvement plans.
• Provide leadership and direction for all PETN manufacturing operations.
• Supervise Shift Supervisors and Technicians and guide Operations personnel.
• Establish priorities, performance expectations, and accountability across the operations.
• Coordinate activities across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, SHES, and Supply Chain.
• Drive Process Safety Management compliance and all applicable regulations.
• Lead site performance reviews on safety, production, quality, reliability, staffing, and cost.
• Lead production planning and monitor throughput, reliability, and operating rate.
• Ensure MOC, PHA, PSSR, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Lead operational readiness for changes, capital projects, and major maintenance.
• Lead cross-functional problem solving for significant issues.
• Support audits and closure of findings.
• Champion workforce development and leadership growth for supervisors and hourly staff.
• Manage budgets and labor planning; monitor financial performance.
