Job summary

Senfeng Laser USA seeks an organized HR & Plant Assistant to support our Houston facility with HR operations and administrative tasks. The role emphasizes compliance with U.S. and Texas laws and acts as a bridge between the local workforce and the broader organization.

The successful candidate will be bilingual (English/Mandarin), handle recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations, and assist with benefits, leave programs, and training initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in an HR Generalist, HR Assistant, or similar role, within a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Proven knowledge of U.S. and Texas employment laws to reduce risk and ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary HR contact at the plant for recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and offboarding.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state (Texas), and local employment laws (FLSA, EEO, ADA, FMLA).
• Maintain accurate employee records, I-9 documentation, and required workplace posters.
• Advise management on policy interpretation, legal awareness, and handling of employee complaints.
• Administer employee benefits, workers’ compensation, and leave programs.
• Support performance review processes and assist with training plans for production personnel.
• Provide administrative support to the Plant Manager, including scheduling, reporting, and project coordination.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Inventory teams to support workflow and projects.
• Translate HR policies and safety procedures between English and Mandarin.

Senfeng Laser USA is a professional manufacturer specializing in metal processing equipment such as laser cutting, laser welding, laser cleaning, laser cladding, bending, automation, and machine tools. To meet the needs of our rapidly expanding business, we are seeking a highly organized and proactive HR & Plant Assistant to support our Houston facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring our plant operations are compliant, efficient, and well-supported administratively.

About the Role

The Plant Assistant(Bilingual in English and Mandarin) is a dual-function role responsible for managing day-to-day human resources operations and providing comprehensive administrative support to the Plant Manager. This position requires a strong understanding of U.S. and Texas employment laws to mitigate risks and ensure the plant’s compliance. The ideal candidate will be a bridge between the local workforce and the broader organization, leveraging bilingual skills to facilitate clear communication and foster a positive work culture.

Responsibilities

• Human Resources & Compliance
• Act as the primary point of contact for all plant-level HR matters, including recruitment, on boarding, employee relations, and offboarding.
• Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state (Texas), and local employment laws, including FLSA, EEO, ADA, and FMLA regulations.
• Manage and mitigate compliance risks by maintaining accurate employee records, I-9 documentation, and required workplace posters.
• Advise management on policy interpretation, legal awareness, and proper handling of employee complaints or disputes to minimize legal exposure.
• Administer employee benefits, workers’ compensation claims, and leave of absence programs.
• Support the performance review process and assist with the development of training plans for production personnel.
• Provide direct administrative support to the Plant Manager, assisting with scheduling, reporting, and project coordination.
• Partner with Production, Engineering, and Inventory teams to support workflow management and project execution.
• Assist in identifying and removing administrative bottlenecks to improve overall shop efficiency.
• Support with prototype builds, new product introductions, and continuous improvement initiatives from an administrative and HR perspective.
• Help coordinate travel arrangements, expense reports, and vendor management as needed.
• Translation & Communication
• Serve as a translator/interpreter (English/Mandarin) for internal communications, meetings, training sessions, and documentation to ensure clear understanding across all teams.
• Translate HR policies, safety procedures, and other operational documents to support a diverse workforce.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1+ years of experience in an HR Generalist, HR Assistant, or similar role, specifically within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Legal Knowledge: Proven knowledge and experience in applying U.S. and Texas employment laws to reduce risk and ensure a compliant workplace.
