Job summary

Ada County is seeking a Planner/Zoning staffer to perform varied planning and zoning assignments, with direct public interaction and written reporting. You will prepare notices, maps, and supporting materials, and ensure regulatory compliance in a fast-paced county environment.

Experience with GIS, map production, and clerical recordkeeping is valued. The role supports Development Services in Ada County and requires strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of planning principles and practices.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe Suite.
• Ability to create and maintain complex clerical records.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare files, legal notices and hearing notices for hearings.
• Notify affected agencies and the public as required.
• Ensure notices comply with Idaho State Code and county policies.
• Research property ownership using GIS or manual methods.
• Prepare maps, charts and materials using computer software.
• Maintain department work log and meeting schedules.
• Proofread materials and document minutes at meetings.
• Review land use applications for completeness and compliance.
• Answer telephone inquiries on zoning matters.
