Job summary

The Bolton Group is hiring multiple Payroll Supervisors in Houston to lead a large, multi-state payroll function. The role focuses on Workday Payroll and will require mentoring a team while ensuring accurate and compliant payroll across several entities.

Hybrid schedule with on-site work in Houston, offering a base salary range and opportunities to lead process improvements in payroll operations. CPP/FPC not required but a plus for the right candidate.

Qualifications

I’m partnering with a large, publicly traded organization that is expanding its payroll leadership team and hiring multiple Payroll Supervisors in Houston.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Payroll Supervisor, Payroll Lead, or Senior Payroll Professional who has strong Workday Payroll experience and is ready to take on more leadership responsibility.

The organization has over 10,000 employees, operates across multiple states and legal entities, and has a large corporate payroll function.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Oversee weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll processing across a complex, multi-state environment
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and development to payroll staff
• Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and appropriate controls
• Maintain payroll data integrity within Workday Payroll and support integrations with timekeeping, benefits, and other systems
• Oversee employee changes, deductions, garnishments, terminations, and other payroll transactions
• Support payroll reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger activity
• Partner with HR, Accounting, Benefits, and other internal teams to resolve payroll issues
• Help improve payroll processes, procedures, documentation, and overall operational consistency

What we’re looking for:

• Hands-on Workday Payroll experience – required
• Experience processing payroll within a large, multi-state and/or multi-entity organization
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring, coaching, or leading payroll professionals
• Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, taxes, controls, and compliance
• Stable career progression and a collaborative leadership style
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent payroll experience considered
• CPP or FPC certification is a plus

Location: Houston, TX – Northwest Houston area

Schedule: Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote

Base salary: $70K–$100K, with flexibility above the range for highly qualified candidates

This could be especially attractive for a strong Senior Payroll Processor or Payroll Lead who has been mentoring others and is ready for the next step into formal leadership.
