Pasadena Independent School District is seeking an Assistant Director Orchestra to create a flexible and meaningful music program, plan instruction, and foster a learning environment that supports student growth and community engagement.

The role requires TEA-compliant curriculum delivery, leadership of orchestra ensembles, collaboration with staff and parents, and responsible management of equipment, budgets, and schedules.

Qualifications

• Degree and/or certification to meet TEA requirements.
• Ability to read, analyze, interpret instructional materials.
• Plan a program of study that meets student needs with varied strategies.
• Establish and maintain relationships with students, peers and parents. Skills in oral and written communication.
• Thorough knowledge of all orchestra instruments.
• Ability to demonstrate correct sound production.

Responsibilities

• Teach TEA/District/Campus approved curriculum.
• Meet and instruct classes at designated locations and times.
• Plan a program of study to meet student needs with varied activities.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity.
• Provide opportunities for students to perform and demonstrate musical skills.
• Guide students to maintain standards of classroom behavior per policy.
• Communicate objectives for lessons and units to students.
• Diagnose learning styles and teach to all modalities.
• Evaluate student growth and keep records and progress reports.
• Be available to students, parents and staff outside instructional day.
• Initiate home-school communication and interpret policies to community.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and budget for repairs and music.
• Develop a PR program to showcase program achievements.
