Aspire X-dock LLC is expanding its operations to the Midwest! We are seeking a capable, bar raising, career-oriented Assistant DockSupervisor. The Assistant Supervisor will provide planning for, direction to, and control available resources associated with the timely, damage-free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts. In addition, they will provide dockworker training, performance feedback, and provide disciplinary recommendations when necessary.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
- Guarantee audit compliance within all areas of the operation
- Review terminal operating reports and adjust labor schedules for increased efficiencies
- Focus on hiring and developing the best.
- Ensure accurate daily asset reporting: Trailers, Forklifts, Scanners, Load Bars, load straps, airbags and Containers
- Manage and react to day-to-day operational requirements in a professional and timely manner
- Must be able to overcome obstacles, have quick decision making, be able to work independently from the operations team as well as operate the facility independently.
- Directly supervise all activities of dockworkers and support personnel engaged in loading and unloading trucks and trailers
- Assign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedules
- Ensure appropriate load plans and proper load balance to ensure safe vehicle operation
- Coordinate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide training on relevant job duties
- Provide a clean, safe working environment for all personnel and visiting customers
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to ninety (90) pounds
- Must be comfortable working in a loud environment as well as working in various temperatures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years management in Logistics Management or Cross Docking.
- 3 years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
- Documented experience of managing team of two plus salaried employees and minimum of 25 indirect employees
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical skills
- Excellent customer service skills, communication and interpersonal skills
- Track record of meeting or exceeding dept performance goals
- Experience in operations, supply chain/logistics or related field
- Dedicated team player that thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to drive performance of direct reports and lead a team in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Must be willing to work various shifts and days per week
- Transportation experience preferred
- Knowledge of proper freight handling techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of operations
- Must be flexible to work occasional weekends if fright volume warrants.
- Forklift and general freight handling experience
- Must be able to pass a ten-year background check and drug screening.
- More responsibilities could be added as the operation grows and changes.
- Ability to travel for training and aid in operations if needed.
- Supervise and coordinate all activities of dockworkers and other support personnel on a daily basis.
Preferred experience with Amazon and related systems:
- TAM experience
- Knowledge of cross dock/LTL preferred, but not a must
- YMS, OB/IB SSP, FMC
- Knowledge and understanding of SOPs (FIFO, 5S, Safety)
- Skills:
- The ideal candidate will possess a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethic
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- General computer skills - Microsoft Office, Outlook, TC56/57, Excel, Yard Mgt, Inbound and outbound dock management software.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
