Job summary

Ascension Williamsport is seeking an experienced RN supervisor for Med Surg on the Evening shift. The role leads multiple nursing teams, ensures efficient department operations and maintains high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment.

The role emphasizes staff development, hiring, training, and collaboration with leadership to meet clinical objectives and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Current RN license issued by the Indiana Board of Nursing.
• BLS Provider certification required within 1 month of hire.
• Advanced Life Support certification preferred.
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and provide leadership while directing nursing staff in one or more specialty areas.
• Assess daily patient access needs and oversee all aspects of nursing department operations.
• Deliver quality patient care and implement clinical objectives.
• Delegate duties to staff based on assessed skills and monitor proficiency.
• Collaborate with department leadership to ensure processes are up to date and followed.
• Participate in quality initiatives, audits and improvement plans.

How you'll make an impact in this role

Supervise, coordinate, and provide leadership while directing activities of associates in one or more of the following nursing specialty areas: Emergency/Triage, Adult or Pediatric/NeoNatal Critical Care Departments, Labor & Delivery/Women & Family.

• Assess daily patient access needs and ensure that appropriate patient care is provided. Provide oversight involving all aspects of nursing department operations.
• Deliver quality patient care and ensure implementation of clinical objectives.
• Delegate appropriate duties to clinical staff based on their assessed skills and abilities, maintaining proficiencies related to job functions and processes through ongoing monitoring of daily operations.
• Collaborate with department leadership to ensure processes are up to date and followed.
• Participate with ongoing quality initiatives, auditing projects and development of plans for improvement.
• Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.

What minimum qualifications you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Accepted.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.

Education:

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
