Job summary

Fairview Hospital / Cleveland Clinic in Akron, OH, seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager to support the Nurse Manager in daily unit operations and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care and staff development.

You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care on a 24-hour basis, facilitate staff training and performance coaching, monitor budgets, and promote evidence-based practice within a busy pediatric-adult unit.

Qualifications

• BSN required; Master’s in nursing preferred.
• Current RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 4 years nursing experience with 1 year in supervisory/leadership role.
• Pediatric experience preferred; proficient in MS Office and EMR.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to management by understanding business operations, financials, and industry trends.


• Develop and guide nursing staff through coaching, training, and performance evaluations.


• Monitor department budget to maintain expenditure control.


• Assist in maintaining operational efficiency of the patient care unit.


• Promote nursing philosophy, educational initiatives, and research efforts.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN required, Master’s preferred.


• Licensed Registered Nurse in the state; current BLS certification.


• Minimum 4 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.


• Experience in clinical pediatrics required; proficiency in MS Office and EMR software.


• Excellent interpersonal skills to promote communication and staff development.


• Additional certifications such as PALS, ACLS, TNCC, or NRP required based on unit assignment; relevant professional certifications preferred.
