Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to support the Nurse Manager in daily unit operations and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care delivery on a 24-hour basis.

You will develop and evaluate nursing staff, facilitate care using specialized knowledge and judgment, and contribute to educational initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree (MSN, MBA, MPH, MHA, etc.) preferred.
• Current RN license in Ohio required.
• BLS certification required by American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Contributes as a key member of management by understanding business operations, financials, industry trends, and customer needs.
• Develops and guides nursing staff through direction, coaching, training, and performance management to meet goals.
• Monitors and adheres to department budget to ensure cost-effective care.
• Assists Nurse Manager in maintaining unit operations and collaborating with support services.
• Promotes nursing philosophy and objectives through educational initiatives and research.
• Other duties as assigned.
