Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to support the Nurse Manager in daily unit operations. The role collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care on a 24‑hour basis.

The position focuses on staff development, education, and maintaining high standards of nursing practice using specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills. Strong pediatrics experience is required and Epic EMR proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN is required; MSN or MBA/MPH/MHA preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in Ohio.
• Current Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
• Minimum 4 years of nursing experience; supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Nurse Manager in daily unit operations and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care delivery on a 24‑hour basis.
• Facilitates development and evaluation of nursing staff and provides nursing care using expert knowledge.
• Contributes to budget monitoring and operational efficiency with leadership oversight.
• Leads educational initiatives and research efforts to advance nursing practice.
