JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Men’s Assistant Soccer Coach
JOB SUMMARY: WPU strives to create a vibrant learning community for all its members, including students, staff, and faculty. DEPARTMENT: Soccer - Athletics
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Background in collegiate soccer; working towards US Soccer Licenses.
- Abilities: Demonstrated talent in building cohesive teams; independent decision-making; willingness to pursue US Soccer coaching badges; ability to work under shifting priorities; strong communication skills; discretion with confidential matters; ability to work independently and in teams; organizational skills; willingness to work long hours.
REPORTS TO: Head Men’s Soccer Coach
SUPERVISES: Assistant Coaches, Graduate Assistant Coaches, Student Coaches, and Managers
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure program compliance with William Penn, NAIA, and Heart of American Athletic Conference regulations and policies.
- Monitor and adhere to budget constraints; submit purchase orders and expense forms timely.
- Maintain all documentation for student-athlete eligibility with the Compliance Officer and NAIA.
- Maintain scholarship standards for student-athletes.
- Coordinate recruiting efforts for the JV team.
- Oversee ethical recruiting and retention processes, maintaining FTE numbers.
- Attend all athletic department meetings.
- Coordinate team travel with the Transportation Director.
- Assist with media releases, guides, and related materials.
- Serve as a positive role model; enforce discipline guidelines.
- Contribute positively to the athletic department team environment.
- Arrange individual training sessions for athletes.
- Oversee the Junior Varsity program, maintaining standards.
- Submit annual inventory updates.
- Monitor attendance and academic performance of team members.
- Communicate recruiting information with Admissions.
- Coordinate schedules for varsity and JV teams.
- Maintain professionalism and sportsmanship.
- Work with the Champions of Character program to meet NAIA and institutional guidelines.
- Coordinate with Athletic Training Staff.
- Support departmental staff, administration, and faculty.
- Participate in performance management and reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Athletics.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: At-will employee.
