Job Summary/Basic Function

Central State University, an NCAA Division II institution, isseeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to serve as theAssistant Men’s Basketball Coach / Compliance. This role is vitalto the success of the men’s basketball program, with keyresponsibilities spanning recruitment, academic support, game andpractice planning, and ensuring NCAA compliance. The successfulcandidate will work under the direction of the Head Men’sBasketball Coach and closely with the compliance office to ensureadherence to all institutional, conference, and NCAAregulations.

Key Responsibilities:
Recruiting
  • Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes in accordancewith NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.
  • Build strong relationships with high school and junior college coaches and prospective student-athletes.
  • Coordinate and manage official and unofficial campusvisits.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed recruiting records in compliancewith NCAA standards.
Compliance / Spry Coordination
  • Assist in monitoring team activities to ensure full compliancewith NCAA rules and university policies by keeping spry up todate.
  • Serve as a liaison with the compliance office to supportdocumentation, reporting, and education related to eligibility,recruiting, and student-athlete welfare.
  • Stay current with all changes to NCAA rules and ensure programoperations reflect compliance best practices.
Academic Monitoring
  • Track academic performance of student-athletes and coordinatewith academic support staff.
  • Encourage and mentor student-athletes to maintain academiceligibility and pursue academic excellence.
Practice & Game Preparation
  • Contribute to the development of practice schedules and in-game strategies.
  • Participate in on-court instruction and individual skilldevelopment.
  • Assist in scouting opponents and analyzing game film.
Summer Camps
  • Plan, organize, and lead summer basketball camps.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and compliant camp environment inaccordance with university guidelines.
Technology & Performance Analysis
  • Utilize platforms such as Sportscode, Hudl, Synergy, and Spry forfilm review, scouting, and performance metrics.
  • Maintain video archives and assist in statistical analysis.
Marketing & Social Media
  • Design and distribute promotional and recruiting materials usingtools like Canva.
  • Support the program’s branding and social media presence incoordination with the athletics communications team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiatelevel.
  • Proficiency with Sportscode, Hudl, Synergy, Spry, Canva, andsimilar tools.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonalskills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the academic and athletic developmentof student-athletes in a diverse educational environment.
