Job Description

Summary
The Assistant Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer is expected to be comfortable working in the manufacturing environment; capable of working under pressure and with limited supervision, and responding to production/quality issues promptly to avoid delays. Daily activities involve collaborating with Technical Engineering, Design, Production, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and Aftersales teams to improve product designs and processes for increased throughput, reduced costs, and enhanced quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist in overseeing the assembly process of railcar interior, exterior, undercarriage, and special systems.
  2. Ensure assembly processes follow guidelines from R&D and Technical Engineering divisions and meet customer requirements.
  3. Manage engineering changes via the ECN system and communicate updates to relevant departments.
  4. Create and update Bills of Materials, assembly drawings, work instructions, process documents, and schematics for mechanical assemblies.
  5. Assist in training assembly workers as needed.
  6. Develop tooling, fixtures, and work cell layouts to optimize manufacturing and assembly.
  7. Evaluate processes and recommend improvements.
  8. Coordinate with quality and testing teams to troubleshoot assembly issues and perform root cause analysis.
  9. Participate in continuous improvement activities and recommend solutions to meet production targets.
  10. Identify tooling needs and propose acquisitions to improve productivity.
  11. Liaise with R&D, Technical Engineering, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
  12. Travel to off-site locations for after-sales support, supplier visits, and other assigned duties.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and process documents.
  • Hands-on approach to solving assembly issues.
  • Willingness to learn about mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with testing and measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, height gauges, force gauges).
  • Excellent communication skills.

Additional requirements include:

  • Six months to one year of experience in manufacturing or related engineering roles.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD software (CATIA, AutoCAD).
  • Experience with ERP systems like SAP.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 annually
