Job Description: Assistant Material Laboratory Manager (Project Manager IV)

Responsibilities

1. Supervise Materials Lab Staff, assign staff, equipment, and materials to projects, and provide technical guidance.
2. Ensure laboratory and personnel comply with contract specifications, Quality Control Manual, and federal testing requirements.
3. Serve as acting Laboratory Manager in their absence.
4. Research and coordinate staff training on construction methods such as concrete and asphalt paving.
5. Recommend pavement treatments and project scope based on pavement conditions and future plans.
6. Oversee updates to project specifications, drawings, and guidelines.
7. Manage certifications and renewals for lab and inspection staff, including testing and study materials.
8. Ensure quality testing of materials from local sources and review mix designs for asphalt and concrete bi-annually.
9. Forecast testing needs and manage budgets for materials and equipment.
10. Coordinate municipal testing activities, review reports, and manage billing and scheduling.
11. Manage training and certification programs, including AASHTO, CCRL, and MoDOT certifications.

Minimum Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineer or Architect in Missouri with five years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred: Construction material testing experience, certifications, and supervisory experience.
