Assistant Material Laboratory Manager (Project Manager IV)

This position is within the Department of Transportation and Public Works, Construction Materials Lab in Maryland Heights. The annual starting salary ranges from $74,401 to $89,273, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical insurance, PTO, paid holidays, parental leave, and more.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise Materials Lab staff, assign tasks, and oversee testing activities.
2. Ensure compliance with contract specifications and quality standards.
3. Coordinate staff training and certifications.
4. Research and recommend construction methods and pavement treatments.
5. Review and update standard specifications and project documents.
6. Manage municipal testing programs and reporting.
7. Oversee laboratory quality control and proficiency testing.
8. Support IT and database maintenance for the lab.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer, preferably by the Missouri Board, with five years of related experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Construction material testing experience and supervisory skills preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
