Responsibilities

Responsible for the daily operations of surgical cases to ensure quality service and optimal patient flow.

Essential Functions

• Coordinate staffing needs and review coverage daily to meet patient care requirements.
• Collaborate with surgical control desk, anesthesia, pre-op, and PACU to ensure smooth case flow and productivity.
• Monitor schedules for equipment or supply needs.
• Work with physicians on new procedures, technology, and supply requests.
• Ensure vendor compliance and participation in scheduled cases.
• Manage surgeon block time and operating room utilization.
• Maintain surgeon credentialing and update preference cards.
• Identify service line needs with leadership and physicians.
• Maintain proficiency in all assigned roles, including circulator duties.
• Identify future equipment needs and participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Operate specialty instruments and equipment, and provide staff training on new technology.
• Ensure proper sterilization and inventory of supplies.
• Participate in hiring, evaluation, and performance management of team members.
• Promote exemplary customer service and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved nursing school; Bachelor of Science required within 36 months of hire for new hires after Jan 1, 2020.
• Commitment to professional development and continuing education.

Licensure/Certification

• Current Florida RN license or certified surgical technologist with appropriate certifications.
• CPR, ACLS, PALS as applicable.

Experience

Minimum 2 years as a registered nurse or surgical technologist in a surgical setting, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
