Job Title: Assistant Manager of Purchasing / Lead Buyer

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually

The Purchasing Assistant Manager will have the opportunity to assist in managing sourcing execution, cross-functional collaboration, security of supply, and continuous improvement over direct/Indirect category spend. You will partner closely with the Purchasing Manager to implement procurement strategies, drive cost reduction projects, enable growth opportunities, mitigate supply risk, and increase operational efficiency. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and brings a continuous improvement mindset to purchasing and supplier processes. This take-charge leader will have a proven track record of strong leadership, business acumen, influencing skills, and an outstanding ability to drive results.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and implement sourcing strategies to reduce total delivered cost, mitigate headwinds, and improve security of supply
• Develop relationships and leverage market intelligence and digital tools to influence internal and external stakeholders, and optimize the lowest Total Delivered Cost (TDC)
• Create and implement best practice procurement vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance
• Ensure that purchasing strategies and processes are in place to deliver optimized costs while meeting business objectives and operational needs
• Maintain a close working relationship with supply chain leaders, operations business leaders, and engineering leadership to support their strategic growth objectives and identify and implement cost-savings and efficiency opportunities for gross margin improvement
• Communicate with Executive Management to keep them informed of critical developments in the Supply Chain

Tactical Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day to day planning and execution of MRP needs of assigned categories of spend
• Support purchase order authorization process through SAP electronic approval process
• Develop a hands on knowledge of all workflows to be a support resource within these functions to all stakeholders and purchasing team members
• Resolve supplier issues as required
• Prepare Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), and Vendor Price Sheets (VPS) as required
• Support development of negotiation strategies, and participates in negotiations as assigned
• Promote and maintain positive working relationships among internal staff and suppliers
• Develop and Participate in cost reduction initiatives
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production, quality, and finance teams
• Perform other duties as assigned
