Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking an experienced nurse leader to supervise the PCCU patient care setting. You will coordinate nursing activities, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations essential for safe, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years acute care experience required with PCCU experience.
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license required at time of hire.
  • BLS CPR required.

Job Details & Qualifications:

Working along side and supporting the Nurse Manager, supervises the daily operations of the PCCU patient care setting to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery. Coordinates nursing activities and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Ensures nursing practice is aligned with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. Responsible for staff development and fostering a collaborative and patient-centered environment.

Progressive Cardiac Care Unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 32-bed unit, consisting of 20 telemetry, and 12 ICU step-down beds. The unit cares for highly acute cardiac medicine patients with diagnoses such as acute MI, cardiomyopathy, dysrhythmia, and heart failure. Treatments are primarily medical, but frequently include intervention in the Cardiac Cath & Electrophysiology lab, including stent placement, ablation, PPM/AICD implantation, Impella devices and TAVR's. Due to the chronicity of cardiac disease, the Registered Nurse will have the opportunity to form strong positive relationships due to the extended stays of many patients and their families. This unit is resourced a full-time “monitor watch” tech to assist in early detection of EKG changes and to alert staff of lethal rhythms. Staff on the floor will gain experience with vasoactive drip titration, Swann-Ganz catheters, LVADs, phlebotomy & IV insertion, ACLS, and palliative care.
