Job summary

Halfords Autocentres in Berkshire is seeking an Assistant Manager to work with the Centre Manager, balancing workshop duties with daily sales and customer service. This role sits at the heart of a busy Autocentre, delivering a first-class customer experience.

You will help drive profitability and provide coaching while supporting daily sales, customer service, and the workshop team, with a strong emphasis on health and safety standards and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering high customer satisfaction through effective management.
• Coaching/training colleagues in the moment.
• Experience meeting Health and Safety compliance standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• IT proficiency with in-house systems.
• Current valid driving licence.

As an Assistant Manager, you’ll work alongside the Centre Manager, to provide productive management and leadership, driving profitability, with firm focus on the customers journey. Ideally you will have had previous hands‑on experience as a mechanic as you will be dividing your time between the workshop, working alongside the technicians, and assisting the Centre Manager with daily sales and customer service.

• On-target earnings up to £43,422
• Comprising a base salary of £36,322
• An uncapped monthly bonus scheme with average additional earnings of £7,100 per year

• Experience / Ability to deliver high customer satisfaction and experience through effective management
• Experience / Ability to deliver coaching/training in the moment to colleagues
• Experience of meeting compliance standards across Health and Safety
• Excellent communication skills, verbally and written
• IT Proficient, with the willingness to learn in-house systems
• A current valid driving licence
