Job summary

Big Blue Swim School in Point Loma, CA is seeking an operations leader to manage daily activities and supervise a team of swim-instruction staff. The role focuses on advancing student progress, maintaining safety, and delivering high-quality customer service.

You will coach teachers, enforce curriculum adherence, and support the General Manager. BBSS offers growth opportunities, training, and a competitive salary with benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in supervision or management preferred.
• Lifeguard/CPR/CPO certifications preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Monitor student progress and ensure appropriate progression.
• Communicate with parents for status updates and high-level service.
• Coach and instruct teachers on safe, effective swim lessons.
• Ensure teachers adhere to BBSS principles and curriculum.
• Enforce safety procedures and required certifications.
• Maintain facility operations including water quality and pump room.
• Assist the General Manager with daily operations and team support.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$50,000-$55,000

The listed salary range represents the anticipated compensation for this role. Final offers will depend on a candidate’s experience and how closely their background aligns with the position requirements. Most new hires typically begin near the lower end of the range.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily monitoring and review of student progress, check box completion, and move ups to ensure appropriate progression
• Communicate with parents/customers on a regular basis to provide appropriate status updates and a high level of customer service
• Coach and instruct teachers in providing safe and effective swim lessons
• Ensure teachers are adhering to Big Blue Swim School principles and curriculum
• Enforce all safety procedures and required certifications
• Ensure efficient building operations including cleanliness, water quality, and pump room operations
• Assist the General Manager with daily operations and team support as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Previous management or supervisory experience highly preferred
• High School Diploma/GED required
• Lifeguard, CPR, CPO certifications preferred
• Ability to multi task in a fast‑paced environment
• Ability to proactively identify opportunities and recommend solutions
• Must possess the ability to communicate and respond to student and customer interactions
• Ability to work in the pool as needed
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to regularly move throughout the facility to continuously interact with customers and staff
