Job summary

Take 5 Oil Change is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager to oversee daily shop operations, lead a team, and assist customers with automotive services.

The ASM will drive floor operations, perform opening/closing procedures, train staff, and support service delivery from oil changes to light maintenance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must maneuver in and out of a shallow 3’ deep pit used to position yourself safely under cars.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds.
• Need reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Check in with customers before they leave the shop to ensure a great experience.
• Assume the responsibility and authority of the Shop Manager in the manager’s absence.
• Run the floor—ensure each employee is where they need to be and every customer is satisfied before departure.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with counting and adjusting inventory.
• Train and develop subordinates.
• Serve as a role model to other employees.
• Hold team members accountable.
• Perform technician duties including oil changes, oil filter, and basic maintenance.
• Process payments for services performed.
• Restock and maintain inventory levels on the floor.
• Maintain shop, office, and bathroom cleanliness.

• You may need to study the oils and services at first.
• Must maneuver in and out of a shallow 3’ deep pit used to position yourself safely under cars.
• Walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist for extended periods and perform activities that involve holding, grasping, pulling and turning.
• Work in hot or cold weather conditions may be required.
• Always be alert and aware of your surroundings.

What does an Assistant Shop Manager (ASM) do?

• Perform coolant exchanges and transmission drain & fill services.
• Restock and maintain inventory levels on the floor.
• Maintain shop, office, and bathroom cleanliness.
