Job summary

Pratt Industries is seeking an Assistant Machine Operator to support the press operation on the Wapak Corrugator Team. You will handle setup, operation, cleanup, and suggest improvements to improve efficiency.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred experience in corrugated, plus several months in related die-cut, flexo, or press roles. Safe work practices and teamwork are essential as you contribute to production goals.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
• Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions (written, oral, or graphic).
• Knowledge of equipment design and capabilities, ensuring efficient operation.

Responsibilities

• Set up slotting, feed, and die-cut sections on the machine according to proper setup techniques.
• Assist the operator with other duties as needed.
• Monitor board quality (e.g., loose liner, warp, dimensions, caliper, etc.) and report any quality issues to the operator. Sort as necessary to maintain machine productivity.
• Work at the pace set by the machine operator.
• Cross-train on other machines as necessary.
• Be open to moving up the line of progression to operator, regardless of shift.
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner.
• Submit maintenance work orders to supervisors for needed repairs. Be proactive about equipment maintenance.
• Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Assist operators in adhering to the production schedule. Recommend adjustments to optimize the schedule and meet cost, quality, and service goals. Report any scheduling issues to the Supervisor.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
