Job summary

ProAmpac is hiring at its Granite City, IL facility for a production/operator role. The job involves manipulating packaging equipment, ensuring quality and efficiency in a fast-paced setting, and meeting safety and GMP standards.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and work a 12-hour rotating schedule from 7 AM to 7 PM. Prior related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Thread materials from parent roll through guides and rollers to cutters, gluer, printer, folding device, or electric sealer.
• Start machine, observe operation, and adjust to ensure uniform shearing, printing, folding, gluing, or sealing of continuous roll into bags.
• Insert shaft into core and secure with collars; mount roll onto machine using hoist.
• Operate machine to maintain high production and quality with minimal waste and set speeds.
• Diagnose machine problems and correct to maintain smooth production flow.
• Perform daily maintenance including oiling, cleaning, re-taping, and scraping.

Essential Tasks/Duties

• Threads materials from parent roll through guides and rollers to cutters, gluer, printer, folding device, or electric sealer.
• Starts machine, observes operation, and adjusts machine to ensure uniform shearing, printing, folding, gluing, or sealing of continuous roll of material into finished bags.
• May insert shaft into core of parent roll and secure with steel collars, using hand tools, and mount roll onto machine, using hoist.
• Operates machine in proper manner, maintaining high production and a quality product, with a minimum of waste, while maintaining set goals of machine speeds
• Diagnoses problems on machines and corrects immediately, to keep smooth production flow.
• Performs daily maintenance on machine including: oiling machine, cleaning drum area of machine, re-taping, and scraping down.
• Ability to multi-task as well as work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Adheres and maintains equipment to all GMP and AIB regulations at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

Work primarily in a climate controlled indoor environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes and vision protection required on the production floor at all times.

This role operates in a professional environment that requires some exposure to a manufacturing environment. Employee is rarely exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing area during extremely hot summer months.
