Job summary

Geoquest USA, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Precast Plant Logistics Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute inbound and outbound logistics at our precast concrete plant.

You will align production schedules with delivery deadlines, manage dispatch, routing, load planning, and fleet utilization to ensure on-time, safe deliveries. The role requires strong organizational skills, experience in DOT regulations, and cross-functional collaboration with production, project management, and field teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or precast/construction operations.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience with dispatching, route planning, and fleet coordination.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and long-term delivery schedules with Production, Project Management, and Customers.
  • Plan and optimize truck routes, load sequencing, and delivery timing.
  • Oversee shipping operations, including loading, securing, and dispatching precast elements.
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and Project Management to confirm priorities and sequences.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards.
  • Monitor transportation costs and identify process improvements.
  • Maintain records of shipments and logistics performance.

Geoquest USA, Inc. (formerly The Reinforced Earth Company) is recognized as the inventor and market leader of the MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) retaining wall industry. The company provides the design and supply of materials of proprietary retaining wall systems and earth related technologies to contractors and owners for use in civil engineering. Our company works as a sub-contractor/material supplier on DOT and privately owned projects. We perform all duties associated with our jobs from sales, marketing, civil engineering/design, supply, and construction support. The Assistant Precast Plant Logistics Manager reports to the Assistant Plant Manager, Plant Manager, or Regional Plant Manager and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all inbound and outbound logistics activities within the precast concrete manufacturing plant. This includes transportation, dispatch, yard management, inventory flow, load planning, and coordination with production, project management, and field operations. The role ensures that precast products are delivered safely, on time, and in full compliance with project specifications and customer requirements, while optimizing trucking efficiency, yard utilization, and overall logistics cost. This position requires strong organizational skills, operational awareness, and real-time decision-making to align plant production with delivery schedules and site readiness.

Responsibilities Include
  • Logistics Planning & Dispatch
    • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and long-term delivery schedules in coordination with Production, Project Management, and Customers.
    • Plan and optimize truck routes, load sequencing, and delivery timing.
    • Ensure efficient utilization of company fleet and third-party carriers.
    • Coordinate shipment priorities based on project schedules and site conditions.
    • Adjust dispatch plans in real time to accommodate changes, delays, or production constraints.
  • Outbound Shipping & Transportation
    • Oversee all shipping operations, including loading, securing, and dispatching precast elements.
    • Ensure all loads comply with DOT regulations, weight restrictions, and permitting requirements.
    • Coordinate escort vehicles, permits, and special transport requirements for oversized loads.
    • Verify accuracy of Bills of Lading (BOL), shipping documentation, and delivery tickets.
    • Track shipments and provide real-time updates to internal teams and customers.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Work closely with Production to ensure product readiness aligns with shipment schedules.
    • Interface with Engineering and Project Management teams to confirm priorities and delivery sequences.
    • Communicate with Customers/Owners regarding schedules, constraints, and delivery updates.
    • Support field erection teams with delivery coordination and issue resolution.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Enforce all safety procedures during loading, transport, and yard operations.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards.
    • Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
    • Promote safe work practices among drivers, riggers, and yard personnel.
  • Cost Control & Efficiency
    • Monitor and optimize transportation costs, including freight rates and fuel usage.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.
    • Minimize detention time, empty miles, and inefficiencies in dispatch operations.
  • Reporting & Documentation
    • Maintain accurate records of shipments, deliveries, and logistics performance.
    • Track key logistics KPIs such as on-time delivery, trucking utilization, and cost per load.
    • Provide regular reports to management on logistics performance and issues.
    • Maintain compliance documentation for audits and Customer/Owner requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision
    • Supervise dispatchers, yard supervisors, drivers, and logistics personnel.
    • Conduct daily coordination meetings with logistics and yard teams.
    • Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
    • Ensure proper staffing levels and cross‑training for continuity.
  • Other
    • Participate in plant coordination meetings (production, safety, scheduling).
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives in logistics and operations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education / Skills / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field (preferred). High School diploma as a minimum.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or precast/construction operations.
  • Strong understanding of precast product handling, transport, and erection sequencing.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience with dispatching, route planning, and fleet coordination.
  • Proven ability to manage fast-paced, high-volume logistics operations.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills across multiple departments.
  • Ability to make real-time decisions under pressure.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, dispatch software, and tracking tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to read shop drawings and understand product sequencing (preferred).
  • High level of accountability, organization, and attention to detail.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Primarily plant-based with significant time spent in yard and dispatch areas.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, heavy equipment, and active construction environment.
  • Work may require extended hours, early mornings, or weekends based on delivery schedules.
  • Frequent coordination with drivers, equipment operators, and field personnel.
  • Occasional travel to job sites or regional operations locations.
  • Able to wear personal protective clothing for prolonged periods; safety helmet with chinstrap, safety shoes, eye protection, hand protection and hearing protection (as required).
