Job summary

SCI-Arc Library in Los Angeles is seeking an Assistant Librarian to assist students, faculty, staff and visitors with research, circulation, and event support on the campus.

This part-time, non-exempt role covers shelving, cataloging, reserves management, and ensuring a quiet, welcoming study environment for the SCI-Arc community. The ideal candidate has at least two years of library experience and an interest in Architecture or Art history.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with library reference or patron assistance
• Literacy / experience with the Avery Index, and other academic research databases
• MLS preferred, but not required
• Knowledge of Architecture or Art history and practice preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with research and locating print and digital resources
• Check in and check out books
• Manage media equipment circulation and reservations
• Help manage Faculty Reserves shelves
• Help the Library Manager to process and catalog new books and magazines
• Help build up the collection in support of the pedagogy
• Cover the front desk, which includes supporting photocopier, computer workstations and scanning equipment; answer phone and email inquiries
• Help maintain a secure, quiet and comfortable environment in the library
• Shelve materials and assist with stacks management projects
• Additional duties as assigned
