Job Description
The Assistant IT Manager will partner with the IT Manager to deploy, secure, and sustain all hotel technology—from PMS and POS to guest-facing Wi‑Fi and in‑room IoT controls. This position plays a hands‑on role during pre‑opening build‑out, then transitions into a dynamic support leader, ensuring our systems deliver seamless, high‑performance experiences for our Faena New York guests and staff.
This position has an annual compensation of $95,000.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-Opening Deployment & Readiness
- System Implementation: Assist in installing and configuring Opera (PMS), SilverWare (POS), PBX/VoIP, IPTV, and enterprise Wi‑Fi networks.
- Infrastructure Validation: Audit LAN/WAN, VLAN segmentation, and network security; coordinate failover, backup‑power and redundancy plans.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage on‑site deliveries, installations, and SLAs with Cisco, Mitel, Siemens, and other technology partners.
- User Acceptance & Training: Lead UAT cycles; create SOPs, quick‑reference guides, and hands‑on training modules for front desk, F&B, and housekeeping teams.
Day-to-Day Operations & Support
- Technical Support: Provide prompt resolution of hardware, software, and connectivity issues—minimizing disruption to guest services.
- Maintenance & Compliance: Oversee patch management, antivirus, intrusion detection, and data‑privacy protocols in line with brand and legal standards.
- Asset Management: Maintain an accurate IT inventory; coordinate repairs, upgrades, and equipment replacements throughout the lifecycle.
Guest‑Experience & Innovation
- Guest-Facing Technology: Troubleshoot contactless check‑in kiosks, mobile‑key integrations, in‑room entertainment systems, and smart‑room controls with discretion.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and pilot new technologies (IoT, advanced streaming, digital signage) that elevate the Faena experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–3 years’ hotel IT experience, with hands‑on exposure to PMS (Opera/Micros), POS, Aruba/Cisco networking, and PBX systems.
- Strong communicator and trainer—able to translate technical concepts for non‑technical teams.
- Proven ability to prioritize and multitask in fast‑paced, shifting environments (construction sites through full operations).
- Service‑oriented mindset, proactive problem‑solver, and collaborative team player.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, weekends, and on‑call rotations during critical launch phases.
Technical Proficiencies
- Networking: DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, Wi‑Fi design & optimization
- Security: Patch deployment, endpoint protection, intrusion detection
- Hospitality Systems: Opera, SilverWare/Micros, SynXis or equivalents
- Tools: Active Directory, VMWare/Hyper‑V, backup solutions
Working Conditions
- Pre‑Opening: Hands‑on, on‑site work in evolving, unfinished environments; frequent coordination with construction and vendor teams.
- Operational: Blend of desk‑based planning and floor‑level troubleshooting; occasional late‑night or weekend shifts for updates and go‑live support.

- Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
- Ability to move safely in uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Remain active, constantly moving, or prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer throughout work shift.
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of constantly moving objects, may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
