Job summary

Harris Company is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for a Detroit-area HVAC construction project slated for 2027. You will support project management across all phases, ensure safety compliance, and manage document control, RFIs, and submittals.

You will coordinate with suppliers for procurement, assist in estimating, and help track labor productivity in the accounting system. A bachelor's in mechanical engineering or construction management plus relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 2+ years in building and construction industry.
• 2+ years of experience with mechanical systems.
• 2+ years in business administration and management principles.
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management support during all phases of HVAC construction.
• Assist in site safety compliance and safety plans.
• Review, process, and distribute contract documents and drawings; log RFIs and submittals.
• Support procurement: logs, rentals, shipping coordination.
• Assist in tracking labor productivity in accounting software and estimation activities.
• Attend pre-bid, page-turn, turnover and preplanning meetings as required.
