Job summary

Hyatt Hotels Corporation in Park City, Utah seeks an Assistant Director of Human Resources to lead day-to-day HR, learning and development, onboarding, and compliance initiatives across a luxury resort operation.

The role partners with the Director of HR to drive workforce planning, recruitment, and employee relations while upholding Hyatt standards and a culture of care. Fluency in English required; Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Hospitality, Business, Education, or related field.
  • At least two years HR generalist experience advising leaders and supporting core HR processes.
  • At least one year of Learning & Development, training facilitation, instructional design, or organizational development.
  • Hospitality experience required; luxury hospitality experience strongly preferred.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; Spanish preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, Health Department requirements, workplace safety, and compliance training.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with a Learning Management System or HRIS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the hotel’s HR function day-to-day and lead learning and development initiatives with onboarding and training in partnership with department leaders.
  • Design, deliver, and maintain engaging learning experiences that reinforce luxury service standards and Hyatt culture.
  • Facilitate training and communicate policies, procedures, safety updates, and guest service standards clearly to a diverse workforce.
  • Coach managers on effective on-the-job development and drive performance conversations and succession readiness.
  • Build leadership capability through development programs and structured feedback.
  • Maintain accurate training records and LMS data; ensure confidentiality and compliance.
  • Partner with the Director of HR on strategy, workforce planning, recruitment, wage administration, and company initiatives.
  • Assist with employee and labor relations, recognition, engagement, and leave administration.
  • Support international recruitment and housing processes as applicable to resort operations.
  • Lead HR office processes, reporting, and systems with integrity and accountability.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to colleagues and leaders, upholding Hyatt’s culture of care.

Assistant Director of Human Resources

The Assistant Director of Human Resources is a visible HR leader who partners with the Director of Human Resources to lead the day-to-day HR function and execute short- and long-term people strategies. This role serves as the hotel’s Learning & Development champion, strengthening onboarding, service excellence, compliance learning, manager capability, and colleague engagement across the operation.

The ideal candidate brings strong HR generalist knowledge and a genuine passion for hospitality. They are equally comfortable advising leaders on employee matters, facilitating an engaging training session, interpreting policy, and building the systems that help colleagues do their best work. This role is designed to develop future Human Resources Directors.

Key Responsibilities

Own the hotel’s learning calendar and coordinate onboarding, new-hire orientation, recurring training, and job-specific development in partnership with department leaders.

Design, deliver, and maintain engaging learning experiences that reinforce luxury service standards, Forbes expectations, operational consistency, and Hyatt culture.

Facilitate training and communicate policies, procedures, safety updates, and guest service standards clearly to a diverse workforce.

Assess department training needs, translate operational priorities into practical learning plans, and coach managers on effective on-the-job development.

Build manager and leadership capability through development programs, performance conversations, feedback coaching, and succession-readiness initiatives.

Maintain accurate training records, completion reporting, materials, evaluations, and Learning Management System data; use results to improve learning impact.

Partner with the Director of Human Resources on HR strategy, workforce planning, recruitment and staffing, wage and salary administration, and execution of hotel and company initiatives.

Assist with employee and labor relations, performance management, recognition, engagement, leave-of-absence administration, and colleague communications.

Support international recruitment and colleague housing processes, as applicable to resort operations, while maintaining a high standard of service and compliance.

Lead and develop HR office processes, records, reporting, and administrative systems with accuracy, confidentiality, integrity, and accountability.

Serve as a trusted resource to colleagues and leaders, modeling Hyatt’s purpose of caring for people so they can be their best.

Compliance, Safety & Risk Prevention

Coordinate required compliance learning, including harassment prevention, food safety, emergency preparedness, occupational health, workplace conduct, and other company or regulatory requirements.

Support implementation and monitoring of safety programs and collaborate with managers to build a proactive culture of awareness, prevention, and accountability.

Maintain and audit training files, safety logs, and compliance documentation to support readiness for OSHA, Health Department, company, and other regulatory reviews.

Ensure learning content and HR practices are current, accessible, consistently applied, and aligned with applicable laws, policies, and operating standards.

Success will be measured by an organized and engaging learning environment, strong onboarding and training completion, confident and capable managers, accurate HR administration, timely compliance readiness, and a colleague experience that reflects care, service, and accountability.

Qualifications
