Job summary

Marcus Hotels & Resorts is seeking an exceptional Assistant Director of Human Resources at The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee. This leadership role partners with hotel leaders to drive an elite associate experience through strategic oversight of HR operations, onboarding, compliance, and talent development initiatives.

The candidate will guide recruitment for management roles, oversee onboarding and orientation programs, and manage labor relations with a focus on policy consistency and risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive HR experience; at least 2 years in management/supervisory roles; hospitality experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of employee relations, labor relations, performance management, workplace investigations, and employment law compliance.
• Experience handling disciplinary processes, conflict resolution, terminations, and union grievances.
• Experience coaching and supporting managers on HR policies, procedures, and employee-related matters.
• Experience facilitating onboarding, orientation, training programs, and associate development initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Director of Human Resources to implement HR initiatives and support hotel objectives.
• Oversee recruitment and selection for management positions and guide hourly recruitment efforts.
• Coordinate and facilitate associate onboarding and positive new-hire experiences.
• Lead New Hire Orientation and Accelerating Excellence program for development and culture.
• Serve as Marcus Connect Administrator; provide system support and guidance.
• Support associate relations, including conflict resolution and investigations; ensure policy compliance.
• Assist with labor relations activities, including responding to union grievances.
• Implement and communicate policy updates, SOPs, attendance policies, and handbook revisions.
• Provide manager self-service training on HR policies, systems, and best practices.
• Monitor compliance with safety training and audit standards.
• Supervise HR Generalist and provide coaching and development.
• Perform additional tasks and special projects as needed.
