Job summary

Montage is seeking an Assistant Housekeeping Manager to ensure day-to-day housekeeping operations meet hotel and Forbes standards. The role supports the Director of Housekeeping with inspections, mentoring staff, and building a strong team in a luxury setting.

Responsibilities include training, safety training, scheduling, and ensuring clean, well-maintained rooms and public areas. You will coordinate with Sales and Rooms teams to maintain room status and quality control.

Job description

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager assist in ensuring the day-to-day housekeeping operations are executed in a manner that meets hotel and Forbes standards.

Essential Functions

• Responsible to conduct inspections of guest rooms and public areas while providing exceptional levels of service, including day to day support of the Director of Housekeeping.
• Assist in the management of housekeeping team including mentoring, coaching, counseling and training.
• Ability to build an exceptional housekeeping team while supporting the Director of Housekeeping.
• Make quality inspections check on associates and look for areas of improvement
• Working with Workday software and recruiting system software.
• Conduct regular inspections of the hotel to ensure adherence to cleanliness and maintenance standards.
• Maintain room status communication with sales and rooms team.
• Hire, train, supervise and develop colleagues for maximum effectiveness.
• Provide seamless employee relations with contract employees, ensuring proper training and culture integration.
• Assist in tracking deep cleaning projects.
• Establish safe working conditions through appropriate training.
• Assure all safety and security policies and procedures are followed, including OSHA.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Two plus years’ experience in housekeeping within a luxury resort.
• Must have Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Opera preferred.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
• Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service, and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
• Ability to prepare and analyze data, figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer.
• Knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations.
• Must possess basic computational ability.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• Budgetary analysis capabilities required.
• Knowledge of housekeeping service techniques and cost controls such as manpower, productivity and other expenses.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
• Must be able to lift up to 15-40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
• Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks.
• Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment.

Pay

The pay range for the Assistant Housekeeping Manager is $60,000 to $62,000 / year. This pay range reflects the base salary and does not include incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, or similar forms of compensation that Montage may reasonably expect to pay for the position.
