Job summary

Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. seeks an Assistant Head Mechanic to support the team in a hands-on leadership role, focused on shop operations and fleet performance. The role involves assisting the Head Mechanic, conducting diagnostics and repairs on commercial trucks, and overseeing routine maintenance to keep the fleet compliant and efficient.

Shift is Monday–Friday, 7:00am–4:00pm. Buffalo Biodiesel has been in business since 2005, recycles used cooking oil, and operates across multiple states.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on commercial truck repair experience.
• Experience supervising mechanics in a shop environment.
• CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Mechanic in overseeing daily shop operations.
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.
• Oversee, assign, and support routine and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Work with mechanics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
• Maintain accurate repair logs, parts usage, and service records.
• Collaborate with Fleet Management and Dispatch to minimize downtime.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and performance support for mechanics.
• Ensure shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies.

Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Head Mechanicto support the team. This role is ideal for a hands-on commercial truck mechanic who can assist in leading shop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fleet performance.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Mechanic in overseeing daily shop operations
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy duty vehicles
• Oversee, assign, and support routine and preventative maintenance tasks
• Work closely with mechanics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
• Maintain accurate repair logs, parts usage, and service records
• Collaborate with Fleet Management and Dispatch to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
• Assist with onboarding, training, and performance support for mechanics
• Ensure shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or community college courses in automotive technology or related fields is preferred
• 5+ years' of hands-on commercial truck repair experience
• Experience supporting or supervising mechanics in a shop environment
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required
